The staff here is WORLD CLASS. What an amazing and expert shopping experience for my sons! They are 15 year old twins and have been backpacking several times with organized camps, but they want to try an overnight backpacking-camping trip with a friend - no adults allowed. We had purchased most of the necessities for the organized trips, but the boys had always borrowed backpacks from the camp, so they each needed to purchase one. My husband suggested that we try Casual Adventure, and we are so glad we did. The saleswoman fitted each kid individually for packs, probably spending a good 15 minutes per kid. (They are not identical twins, so they are different heights, weights, and proportions.) Then she gave them tips on packing their bags to distribute weight, and made sure we had some extra things they did not need with the organized backpacking camps, like water purifiers and filtration systems. When we got to the check out, she let us know that there was a sale on the backpacks - 40% off! What a bargain.

The boys just gave their new packs a whirl during a 5-night organized camping trip, and said they were super comfortable and light weight. They leave for their kids-only overnight soon and they are very excited, and I am relieved that they have the right equipment and feel comfortable.

We’ve told a few outdoorsy friends about our experience shopping there, and they already knew about their legendary customer service. They especially recommended the boot-fittings at Casual Adventure.

Eric was fantastic, I'm from the UK and can't get rocky talkie, walkie talkies over here. With a 2 week holiday I had, here in Washington, I decided to order them prior to coming over. Communication with Eric was excellent. A real pleasure doing business!!

The store is an institution that dates back 80 years. I thought it was 40 what do I know? I’m not 80 yet The current owner has carried on the tradition of great service, great product, and a great experience . So even before you get out the door for your journey you should stop by here. Pick up what you might need and get a lot of info that comes from experience and the heart.

This family run outfitter has been around for 80 years. They understand the area, and the gear you will need to be successful in your future adventures because they have done it. We attended a speaker event - yes, it’s a learning center as well - with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy where they had two hikers who had completed the trail. We covered everything from medical emergencies to the number of socks that you might need for the entire hike. I went from pondering possibilities to “I think we can start this in March” in the space of a couple of hours. We have a bit more to go but i am confident now that this is real and that I now have a place that I trust to help me achieve this lifelong goal. I think you will as well!

Picked up a sweet glove at the Arlington Little League Opening Day Ceremonies - but wasn't yet able to use it as I'm recovering from an injury. Moving around better now and began to break in my glove and found a defect. Eric went out of his way to help me out. Told me to email him some photos to save a trip out to him. Confirmed with me that he received them. Updated me a couple hours later that he sent them to the glove rep and was waiting to hear back. Got back to me same night that they were going to credit him for the glove and he had another waiting for me at the store. Probably some of the best follow up/follow-through customer service I've had in quite a long time. Thanks, Eric!
